Yellow Weather Warnings – Storm Amy

The Met Office has issued an amber and yellow warning for wind and rain across all of Scotland, including a yellow warning for the Banchory and Crathes areas, from 6pm on Friday, 3rd October until midnight on Saturday, 4th October.

With winds expected to gust in excess of 70mph, we strongly advise against visiting Estate woodland, including wooded areas in Hill of Banchory or the Loch of Leys path, on Friday and Saturday due to the heightened risk of falling or hanging trees.

In particular, please avoid accessing the north-west corner of Hill of Banchory, north of Rowan Tree Road, where recent forestry work has taken place and is still underway which poses an additional risk.

In the case of any resulting tree damage, please avoid affected areas until our team has had the opportunity to assess and safely clear areas.

Stay safe and follow the latest advice from the Met Office and local authorities.

Protect your property by checking for loose items outside your home and ensure they are secured.

Prepare for any power cuts by charging your mobile phone, check torches and have a battery powered radio to hand to keep up to date with local news.

Check on vulnerable neighbours, friends and family to ensure they are safe and have the support they need.

If you have travel plans, keep up to date with local news and allow extra time for your journey.
