Duncan and Claire Reflect On A Year As Part Of Monitor Farm Scotland Programme

Meikle Maldron on Leys Estate

In November 2022, Duncan and Claire Morrison were announced as the latest enterprise to be chosen as part of the Monitor Farm Scotland Programme.

Duncan and Claire took on the 226 acres upland farm 7 years ago in addition to their family farm and contract farming near Inverurie. They now have around 230 suckler cows, Aberdeen Angus and Stabiliser multipliers as well as a new sheep flock which they added to their business during 2023.

Meikle Maldron is home to the family’s Aberdeen Angus herd which is benefiting from their outwintering system which makes the most of the upland farm’s features, including natural shelter, defered grass and rotational grazing.

A year on, Duncan looks back on what has been a promising year at Meikle Maldron in a short video. You can view the video by clicking the button below.

The programme, which is managed by Quality Meat Scotland, AHDB Cereals and Oilseeds, with funding from the Scottish Government, promotes sustainable innovation and transformational change in the agricultural sector.
