It’s All About Greenpower At Crathes Primary School

Pupils from Crathes Primary School recently participated in the Greenpower Education Trust initiative to inspire young people around the world to excel in Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths through a unique challenge to design, build and race an electric car.

We were delighted to play a small part in supporting the school’s involvement by providing a safe place for the children to practice ahead of the competition in Alford. The HoBESCo yard area provided the ideal location for the children to carry out the required safety checks on their Green Goblin vehicle, practicing team change overs as well as having the opportunity to drive the car powered by one battery and two batteries, for the more confident pupils, along a 25 metre straight and slalom course.

It really was a team effort with Leys Estate tenants JIQ Manufacturing also sharing their expertise and knowledge with the children during the design process and assisting with the practice days at HoBESCo.

The pupils hard work and dedication paid off as the team was awarded Best Bodywork and Best Portfolio at the event in June. We are looking forward to 2023 already!
